Assistant Professor of Music (Upper Strings/Orchestra) Department of Music and Theatre, Tenure-Track Position

Position Description: Fort Hays State University Department of Music and Theatre seeks applicants for Assistant Professor of Music (Upper Strings/Orchestra). The successful candidate will 1. Teach applied violin and viola, chamber music, pedagogy, string techniques. 2. Recruit and build a string and orchestra program. 3. Provide musical and artistic direction for the Hays Symphony Orchestra, a university/community orchestra. 4. Additional responsibilities may be required based on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the candidate.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Music or Master's Degree in Music plus five years professional performance experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Music or Master's Degree in Music plus five years professional performance experience. Strong performance and teaching skills in violin and viola, ability to conduct and direct a Community and University Symphony Orchestra. Evidence of ability to recruit and retain string and orchestra students.
