Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in Fall 2024. Candidates must have a PhD in mathematics by August 2024. Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and master’s level and a commitment to an active research program. Candidates whose work is compatible with existing research areas in the department are of particular interest, but candidates whose work can broaden the research scope of the department will also be considered.  The usual teaching load is three courses per semester. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach - the usual teaching load is three (3) courses per semester.
  • Maintain an active research program.
  • Provide service to the department and university.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
