The University of Oregon’s Mathematics Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, to begin in fall 2024. Successful candidates will be working at the interface of mathematics with statistical inference, machine learning, and/or related areas of data science. They will have a record of research excellence, potential for excellent teaching, and a commitment to promoting an inclusive community. While this position will be in the Mathematics Department, we value the ability to interact with other units on campus, including (but not limited to) the School of Computer and Data Sciences, the Department of Biology, the Institute of Neuroscience, and the Knight Campus for Accelerating Academic Impact. We welcome applicants with a wide range of academic backgrounds.

We are a diverse and growing department with a strength in pure mathematics, but also with a number of faculty members with interdisciplinary research programs. The department has a thriving Ph.D. program with approximately 65 graduate students, 32 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 8 postdocs, and 15 lecturers. We particularly welcome applications from scholars poised to support populations historically underrepresented in the academy, and/or who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

• Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, data science, biology, neuroscience, physics, or another related field.
