The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Candidates specializing in all areas of Pure Mathematics will be considered, but specialization in Applied Mathematics is also negotiable.  The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the further development of Pure Mathematics in the department and to teach graduate and/or undergraduate mathematics courses in Analysis, Algebra, Combinatorics, Topology, and more.  In addition to teaching, the new faculty will be expected to conduct mathematical research, participate in student recruitment and outreach, participate in departmental and university service, and supervise undergraduate students in research.

Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics by the date of appointment or shortly after.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  •  Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, or Mathematics Education (with 18+credit hours in graduate level Mathematics or Statistics Courses)

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience
  • K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience in collaborating with local independent school districts and/or education departments at the University Level
  • Research Potential/Experience
