Job Description

Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of mathematics courses including general education courses and courses for the major. This position is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and reports to the Chair of the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in mathematics.  Friends University is looking for a faculty member who can integrate Christianity into their teaching.

Expectations & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach classes in mathematics and be the lead faculty member for the mathematics major and mathematics education major. Classes will be assigned based on the faculty member’s academic and professional qualifications in accordance with accreditation standards.

Additional duties include:

·         Participation in recruitment of prospective students

·         University committee assignments

·         Student advising

·         Networking and outreach

·         Effective use of instructional technology

·         Curriculum updates

·         Program review

·         Assessment and accreditation duties

·         Other duties as assigned


Skills & Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will hold, at a minimum, a Master’s degree in mathematics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The university prefers to hire a candidate who holds a doctoral degree in mathematics.
