Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:


The Department of Mass Communication at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in film and emerging media production. The ideal candidate would be an innovative moving image artist who specializes in experimental/hybrid forms of non-fiction filmmaking, social documentary filmmaking, and emerging media.
Job Duties:
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in film production, including but not limited to cinematography, directing, editing, screenwriting, and production management. Implement innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their growth and development as filmmakers.

The Department of Mass Communication at SHSU serves more than 500 students and is home to BA in Mass Communication (concentrations: Film, Broadcast, Multiplatform Journalism, PR/Advertising), BFA in Film and Television Production, MFA in Digital Media Production, and MA in Digital Media.
