Job Description

The Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in Marketing is responsible for the development, coordination, and teaching of Marketing courses in the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET) and will also have responsibility for Communication courses in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE). The successful candidate will possess documented capability in teaching, scholarship, and service to the university. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a willingness and ability to teach a range of courses in Marketing and will contribute to course development and curriculum design in this discipline. This includes building on existing strengths within the Marketing program and through collaboration with faculty. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to teach a range of courses in Mass Communication and Communication Studies and will contribute to course development and curriculum design in these areas. A successful candidate will also be responsible for addressing student needs and assisting in the implementation of short and long term goals for the university which include providing service to each program and engaging in scholarship that complements that of current faculty.

Responsibilities for the position:

  • Perform scholarly activities
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines
  • Contribute to curriculum and course development
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees
  • Serve on professional committees within the Marketing and Mass Communications disciplines


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:

  • Ability to teach courses within both Marketing and Communication degree programs
  • A terminal degree in Marketing or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited program
  • Master's degree in Communication, Mass Communication, or equivalent
  • Peer-reviewed scholarship using quantitative social science research methods applicable to
  • Marketing or Communication Research potential, desire, and capability

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in teaching upper or lower division courses utilizing current technologies supporting both face to face and virtual learning environments at the university level
  • Evidence of prior graduate-level teaching in communication OR at least 5 years’ paid work 
  • experience in a communication field (such as, but not limited to, PR, corporate communications, or social marketing)
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes (e.g. SACSCOC, AACSB, etc.) and assessment activities, including data collection, data analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Experience or interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion activities

This position starts no later than August 2022.
