Instruct academic courses and support the department, college and university goals by supporting the academic environment to benefit the educational mission of the University.
The faculty employee is expected to contribute to the department's educational mission. Successful candidates will be expected to instruct our students in the respective disciplines.
The faculty employee is expected to have:
1. understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning.
2. strong communication skills and successful higher education teaching
experience.

4. an ability to work collegially and effectively with individuals.

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing - 
Teaching Responsibilities 
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline (e.g., instructional technology, library media, maker space, computer science).
- Teach 4-4 course load each fall and spring semester.
- Courses are taught on campus and in an on-line environment and faculty are expected to come regularly to campus to establish an on-campus presence.
- Mentoring students
- Other teaching responsibilities
Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Faculty - Professional Development - 
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.

Faculty - Service to Institution - 
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. 
Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.

Faculty - Public Service -

Other duties and responsibilities - 
Successful candidates will be able to work collegially and effectively with individuals.
All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors 
and non-majors alike.

Educational Requirements
A Ph.D. (terminal degree) in the discipline taught at the time of the appointment is expected.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))
Other Required Qualifications
Advise and supervise graduate students in Instructional Technology and Library Media programs, collect program data in LiveText for university, state, and national compliance, and facilitate program recruitment.
Required Experience
A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Instructional Technology is required before the effective date of employment. The successful candidate will be assigned teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate/graduate levels. 
The position requires teaching and research primarily in Instructional Technology. An active scholarship program is required along with campus and community service.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies.
Preferred Experience
Higher education teaching experience.
Experience in online instructional design and online teaching.
The willingness and expertise to teach in the Library Media area.
We also value research collaboration with undergraduates.
