Job Description:

The Site Coordinator plays a critical role in teacher preparation at UTEP.  They are full-time clinical faculty members who are partially housed within partnering, PK-12 school districts/campuses. Site coordinators serve three major roles as: (1) the liaison between the university and school district, (2) instructors for college courses and mentor teacher trainings, and (3) instructional coaches for their teacher candidates.  The Site Coordinator for Paraprofessional Programs will be responsible for the recruitment, development, and support of paraprofessionals seeking teacher certification at UTEP, and will be part of a larger Site Coordinator team at UTEP.  This is a grant-funded position and subject to availability of funds.

  • Provide wrap-around support tailored to the unique needs of paraprofessionals seeking certification
  • Foster positive school-university relationships in support of paraprofessional success
  • Engage in program coordination, development, and iteration
  • Develop leadership skills as manager, facilitator, mentor, and clinically-embedded instructor

Primary Responsibilities of a Site Coordinator for Paraprofessional Programs

Program Coordination

  • Lead recruitment efforts for cohorts of paraprofessionals seeking high-quality teacher certification
  • Manage all aspects of paraprofessional program from admission to advising to completion
  • Coordinate wrap-around support for paraprofessionals across the program pipeline

University-School Liaison:

  • Collaborate with district/school administrators to coordinate mentorship/support for paraprofessional candidates
  • Communicate regularly with principals and mentor teachers on progress of paraprofessional candidates
  • Collect, analyze, visualize and share performance assessment data and mentor teacher survey data

Instructional Coach for Teacher Candidates:

  • Supervise one or more cohorts (up to 25) of paraprofessional candidates during their year-long residency
  • Conduct formal performance assessments (POP Cycles) of paraprofessional candidates 4 times/year
  • Conduct eight walkthroughs/year to collect data and provide ongoing support to paraprofessional candidates
  • Lead weekly residency seminars with paraprofessional candidates
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with mentor teachers in support of paraprofessional candidates
  • Ensure recording, uploading (within 48-hours of observation) and accurate labeling of POP cycle (pre-conference, observation of lesson, post-conference) recordings into video storage

Professional conduct:

  • Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district for acceptable Professional Conduct and Dress
  • Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication and confidentiality with candidates and school/district personnel
  • Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites and with the paraprofessional candidates


Requirements:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Education field
  • Extensive experience as a classroom teacher
  • Experience as a mentor, coach, or teacher leader
  • Preferred: program leadership/coordination experience
  • Texas teaching certificate in relevant teaching fields (preferred: administrative certificate)
