Position Purpose
The School of Industrial Sciences & Technology at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to teach Industrial Management and Technology courses starting Fall 2024.
This tenure track position will involve a variety of teaching, advisement, and coordination duties in direct support of the Industrial Management and Technology graduate programs. The successful candidate will teach industrial management and technology courses, develop curriculum and instruction, foster industry contacts, conduct scholarly research, and provide service to the university.
Responsibilities:
  • Teaching twelve credit hours per semester of graduate courses each spring and fall. Summer teaching available if desired.
  • Course development and instruction in graduate classes.
  • Advisement, recruitment, and promotional activities.
  • Participation in professional organizations.
  • Service to university and region.
  • Professional consulting, research, grants, and publication of results.
  • Teaching on-campus, online, and at Lees’ Summit campus

University Information:
The two graduate programs, MS in Industrial Management and MS in Technology, are under the College of Health, Sciences, and Technology. These two majors were the first graduate programs accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering in 2008 and renewed every six years. The following program accreditation renewal will be in April 2026.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree awarded by starting date of appointment (Doctoral or Master Degree must be in Industrial Management, Industrial Engineering, Technology Management, Production, and Operation, or a closely related field). NOTE: The earned doctorate is required for tenure consideration.

Experience
Required:
  • At least three years of relevant U.S. industry experience.
  • Effective spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge base in industrial management/engineering technology, including but not limited to quality systems, planning and control, production and operation, project management, facilities planning, engineering economics, organizational dynamics, and applied research.

Preferred:
  • Three years of experience in online course delivery and course development.
  • A doctorate, professional registration, and teaching experience at the college or university level.
