The Department of Human Physiology is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse community that is committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment. Examples of our efforts include: 1) faculty, staff, and graduate student climate surveys, 2) workshops and a Town Hall with outside consultants and Ombudsperson, and 3) development of rubric for evaluating DEI statements, a Reporting Tree, and respectful discourse guidelines. The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2024.

The goal of this position is to enhance department expertise related to biomechanics. The ideal candidate will address complex problems related to performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation, using innovative and applied solutions in human subjects that will provide generalizable benefits to people across ages, abilities, and health.

Desirable areas of expertise include:
• Injury risk assessment, prediction and/or prevention
• Performance improvement
• Musculoskeletal function
• Neuromuscular function
• Equipment design/testing

Research focusing on the following areas are of particular interest:
• Health and performance in female and/or adolescent athletes
• Neuromechanical function of athletic performance
• Data-based approaches to enhance sport performance and wellness
• Assessment of movement dysfunction
• Assessment, prevention, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries
• Novel assessments and interventions for accelerated return to activity after injury

• PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Human Performance, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Biomechanics, Engineering, Motor Control, Physiology, or related field
• 2 years postdoctoral research experience
