Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2023. Outstanding candidates in all areas of electronics will be considered. This includes but is not limited to
• power electronics
• radio-frequency integrated circuits
• mixed analog/digital design
VLSI
Basic Function and Duties and Responsibilities:

A doctorate in Electrical Engineering or closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, to interact with other faculty in our college, and to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering courses.
The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island offers programs leading to the BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The interdisciplinary nature of our department will provide the new faculty member with opportunities to interact with a broad range of colleagues. Our new 180,000+ square foot engineering building provides an excellent environment for interdisciplinary research collaborations.
The University of Rhode Island is a comprehensive doctoral research, Land Grant, Sea Grant and Urban Grant University. The College of Engineering offers innovative undergraduate and graduate programs, stresses links between diverse fields of inquiry, and values outreach, scholarship, and laboratory-based learning. The University of Rhode Island is a medium-sized public university located near the southern end of the state in picturesque New England. The main campus is located in Kingston, an established, family-friendly, small community only five miles from Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Rhode Island’s proximity to the ocean moderates its weather compared to other New England States. The region offers excellent outdoor recreational activities, good public-school systems, and ready access by car or public transportation to Providence, Boston, New Haven, and the New York City metropolitan areas and airports.
Required Qualifications:

1. An earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or closely related field at the time of appointment.
2. Demonstrated ability to teach electronics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
3. Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement in one or more areas of electronics as evidenced by publications, presentations, or awards.
4. Demonstrated evidence of working with diverse groups (not limited to race, ethnicity, and gender).
5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

1. Ability to develop an externally funded research program.
2. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
The anticipated start is Fall 2023; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
