Job Description
Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the preparation of pre-service teachers (e.g., teaching, grading assignments, advising, etc.,) at the undergraduate level (elementary and secondary), as well as those individuals on temporary/probationary certification status seeking initial teacher certification. Additional teaching and preparation responsibilities may be at the graduate level and include other school professionals. Engage teacher candidates at the on-campus Inclusive Childcare Lab & Diagnostic Center locations; provide unit and university service; advise students at the undergraduate levels; serve as Field Experience Coordinator for elementary and secondary teacher education clinical experiences in the unit. Engage in other related duties deemed necessary to support the unit and institution.
 
 Expectations: Relocation to the USVI, St. Thomas/Orville E. Kean campus; In-person and virtual office hours.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years of experience as a classroom teacher in a school system; Experience with program/curriculum development; knowledge of STEM education and Growth Mindset.
 
 Ph.D. or EdD in education (or related field); eligible for teacher certification 
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of and work in the areas of social-emotional learning (SEL), social justice in education, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), knowledgeable of virtual reality platforms (e.g., Mursion), strong research agenda related to elementary and secondary education; experience in successful grant writing and management or experience related to seeking external funding and proven leadership skills in unit accreditation efforts. Additional preferred qualifications include mastery of technology skills related to instruction, knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard and Canvas), and experience with teaching in traditional (in-person) and non-traditional formats and settings such as off-campus online, and through videoconferencing technology (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
