Job Description
 The Department of Social Sciences at the University of the Virgin Islands invites applications for a tenure track position in Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in August 2022. Demonstrated success or evidence of potential to excel in teaching and advising undergraduates, ongoing scholarly productivity, and institutional and departmental service is required. 
 
 
Candidates will be expected to teach introductory courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics to both social science and business majors, a quantitative research methods course for social science majors, and electives that appeal to social science and other majors. The candidate will also supervise senior capstone and other independent student research projects as necessary. As a small university located in the Caribbean, we especially seek candidates who have a scholarly interest or developed research agenda focused on policy relevant issues in the Caribbean. Candidates are also encouraged to demonstrate their experience or interest in connecting their research and teaching to interdisciplinary programs such as Caribbean Studies and Data Science.

Required Qualifications
 An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics is required. Exceptional ABD candidates may also be considered, but a Ph.D. must be earned by time of appointment. Must possess a record of or potential for achievement in teaching, academic research and service.
