Job Summary/Description
The Norris-Vincent College of Business at Angelo State University and The Free Market Institute (FMI) at Texas Tech University seek applicants for a jointly appointed position at both institutions. The position will entail a tenure-track assistant professor faculty appointment at Angelo State and an untenured permanent research assistant professor appointment at Texas Tech. Successful applicants will have a capacity to teach a variety of economics courses in support of the economics major at Angelo State and to advance the FMI’s mission through an established record and/or a demonstration of potential to execute a promising agenda in research related to the theory, history and practice of free markets. Teaching assignments will include undergraduate and graduate courses delivered via both online and in-person sections. Publication in peer-reviewed journal articles is required for tenure and promotion. Candidates with knowledge of Austrian economics, public choice, and new institutional economics are particularly encouraged. The jointly appointed faculty member will be expected to participate in FMI research workshops, reading groups, and provide other service to the Institute’s programs, in addition to their normal faculty duties at Angelo State.
The business programs offered by the Norris-Vincent College of Business are accredited by AACSB and candidates will need to hold and maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status based on the College’s guidelines (regular publishing in acceptable academic journals) for such status.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in economics, produce peer-reviewed intellectual contributions, especially journal articles, and participate in various service-related activities such as student advising, committee work, and engagement with the academic and business communities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Applicants should be dedicated to excellence in teaching and willing to offer their courses in in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Applicants should also be dedicated to helping ASU students succeed, particularly first-generation college students.
  • Applicants should possess excellent written and oral communication skills. with strong organizational skills.
  • Collegiality and the ability to collaborate with other business faculty in both research and service are also expected.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in economics from an accredited business program.
Preferred Qualifications
Record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals.
