Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin the Fall semester of 2024. Outstanding candidates in all areas of Computer Science or Information Systems are encouraged to apply.

PFW is the largest university in northeast Indiana. The Computer Science department has eleven tenured and tenure-track faculty, three full-time lecturers, and over 700 students in four undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department is ABET-accredited in Computer Science.


Requirements

Requirements for the position are: hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field by the beginning of the 2024 Fall semester; and a strong record of teaching effectiveness and research aligned with the CS Department’s mission (https://www.pfw.edu/etcs/computer-science/about-us). We are interested in candidates who are competent in any of the following areas: Security, HCI (including VR/AR), AI, and Information Systems (in no particular order). These areas are of interest, but other areas in CS/IS are accepted.


Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include: a typical appointment at this rank consists of teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses including, but not limited to, Computer Science and Information Systems, engaging in scholarly endeavors, academic mentoring, and collaborating with the business community. Service to and engagement with the University, Department, and community is also required.

A complete application should include a cover letter, CV, 1-2 page research philosophy, 1-2 page teaching philosophy, copies of official transcripts, and a list of three professional references should be provided, including their contact information and a brief description of their working relationship with the applicant. Three letters of recommendation will be required for the finalists. Candidates invited to interview on campus will be required to do a 45-60 minute instructional student presentation, and a 45-60 minute research presentation.
