Position Summary
Governors State University seeks nominations and applications for two full-time tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Computer Science in the Division of Science, Mathematics and Technology, College of Arts and Sciences. The position is available to begin in Fall semester of 2022-2023 academic year. Applicants shall have an earned Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with industry experience preferred. The successful candidates will be expected to a) have outstanding teaching skills to teach and update undergraduate and graduate courses b) have experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populations c) assist with the development of academic program and assessment and d) participate in appropriate professional development including serving on committees, maintaining a strong record of scholarship, and cultivating good connection with industry partners. 
Governors State University (GSU) was founded in 1969, originally as an upper-division institution with a primary focus of serving community college graduates pursuing baccalaureate degrees. During the five intervening decades, GSU has grown to become the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago’s south suburban area, serving approximately 5,500 students annually in 85 different bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs. Minimum Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
2. Knowledge and ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate computer science courses. 
3. Documented record of an ability to make intellectual contributions through scholarly publications/presentations consistent with the maintenance of AQ (“Academically Qualified”) faculty status under accreditation standards.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, or ABD in the final stages of completion in Computer Science or a related field.
2. Industry experience in multiple areas related to Computer Science and/or with industry-recognized certification(s). 
3. Interest in and ability to teach some online (web-based) courses. 
4. Experience in teaching and advising non-traditional or diverse student populations. 
5. Specialize in Gaming, 3D simulation, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, IoT, Cybersecurity, Big Data, or Robotics.
