Clinical Geneticist  - Metabolic, Job Description 

 

The Clinical geneticist is expected to participate in the clinical management of patients with genetic diseases in all age groups. She/he will participate in the in-patient consultation service as well as in the out-patient services. She/he will join a team of nurse practitioners, fellows, genetic counselors and other geneticists. 

  

The clinical geneticist will have opportunities to participate in clinical, discovery, educational, and laboratory research in a primary or ancillary role. In addition, the clinical geneticist will have the opportunity to interact with and supervise genetics fellow and other medical trainees.  It is expected that the geneticist will assist with the design and implementation of teaching strategies and content for trainees, healthcare providers, and other members of the community.  Opportunities for more in-depth teaching, course development, research mentoring, and peer community education exists if the clinical geneticist will advise and consult with local and national meetings as possible and appropriate. 

  

Job Requirements:   M.D. or M.D./ Ph.D., Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics (Clinical Genetics), Licensed or eligible by the State of Florida. Board certificate or eligibility for Medical Biochemical Genetics is preferred
