Summary of Job Duties:

Job Summary:
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month, and tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of chemistry. Desired areas of expertise is in organic chemistry and preference will be given to a candidate with strong research in biomedical or pharmaceutical research. The position is in the Department of Chemistry & Physics in the School of Arts and Science that will commence in the Fall of 2022. The candidate will be expected to engage in teaching, research, service, and professional activities; contribute to the growth and development of the department, school, and university through recruitment activities; serve on department, school, and university committees; and participate in school activities, including student advisement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and labs in organic chemistry, and general chemistry; work with undergraduate and graduate students to conduct research; obtain extramural funds for research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; serve on thesis committees; participate in curriculum development; participate in student advisement; assist in building and maintaining professional relationships with local, regional and national laboratories, law enforcement and accreditation agencies.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a closely related discipline from an accredited university (If PhD is pending, degree must be completed within first year of appointment.)

Demonstrated potential for undergraduate and graduate teaching Demonstrated potential to establish a research program and acquire external funding Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of work experience in organic chemistry or related field Ability to teach lecture and lab in organic chemistry by incorporating active learning.

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting chemical instrumentation and laboratory equipment
