Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Mississippi seeks to fill open tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level. Responsibilities include teaching core undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses, building and maintaining an externally funded research program, disseminating scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications, and performing service to include advising majors and student organizations, developing curriculum, serving on university committees, and service to the community and profession. Although the area of teaching and research expertise is open, the successful candidate for each position will be required to contribute broadly to our chemical engineering programs, complement or supplement our existing areas of research expertise, and advise undergraduate chemical and general engineering students. 

Opportunities
Opportunities exist for collaboration with current faculty in the School of Engineering, the School of Pharmacy, the Center for Graphene Research and Innovation, the Center for Manufacturing Excellence, the Center for Diagnostics, Design, Devices and Biomechanics, the National Center for Natural Products, and the National Center for Physical Acoustics.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate for each position will teach two courses per semester while maintaining an active research agenda.  Excellence in research will be established by critical peer evaluation, publication record, research grant applications and awards, and graduate student supervision and support.  Service responsibilities will include advising majors and student organizations, developing curriculum, serving on university committees, and service to the community and profession.

The Department of Chemical Engineering offers an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering.


Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related field that enables effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering.  Excellent communication skills, a strong desire to mentor students, and evidence of a strong research agenda with the potential for securing competitive, extramural research funding are preferred.
