The Department of Business and Administration (BADM) at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor, nine month contract position.
The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate’s) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women’s college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate’s is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. This faculty member will ensure our students receive a comprehensive business education. They will teach a wide range of foundational and advanced business courses, including Management, Leadership, and Marketing.
Responsibilities Include:
  • The candidate will ensure our students receive a comprehensive business education by teaching a wide range of foundational and advanced business course in the areas of Healthcare Management, Management, Leadership, and Marketing. This extensive teaching scope provides flexibility to meet the current and ongoing needs of the department.
  • Capable of integrating business concepts and providing a cohesive learning experience that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application.
  • The faculty member will have primary responsibility for teaching on campus each term. They will also have extensive experience teaching in hybrid and online formats to meet the needs of traditional and adult learners, ensuring our programs are accessible and flexible.
  • Flexibility to develop and introduce new courses or special topics in their area of expertise that complement and enhance the existing curriculum in business administration.
  • Display a commitment to fostering students’ academic growth, including providing personalized guidance to help them navigate their academic journey especially for Health Care Management. Support the diverse needs of students, including those from underrepresented groups, ensuring that all students have equitable access to resources, support, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to understanding and addressing students’ diverse backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles.
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, ensuring that all students have equitable access to resources, support, and opportunities.
  • The faculty member will have a blend of professional experience and academic expertise. This mix is vital to provide students with practical insights and academic rigor, preparing them with the skills needed to be successful in their chosen fields.
  • The position involves mentoring and advising a diverse student body, essential to our university’s mission to educate women to lead and influence. Personalized mentoring and advising by the new faculty member will enhance student academic and career outcomes, contributing to the university’s overall reputation.
  • Demonstrate ongoing engagement with the business industry, maintaining professional practice to enrich academic teaching with real-world insights.
  • Actively promote and enhance the School of Business and the department’s academic programs in the business community. By leveraging professional networks, they will forge strong ties within the business community, creating additional opportunities for student internships, collaborations, and job placements.
  • Position the department to be a leader in educating women for influential roles in business.
  • Involvement in departmental, college, or university-wide committees or task forces.
  • Cultivate a supportive department culture that encourages positive interactions among students and faculty.
  • Build cross-departmental collaborations to design and expand academic programs.
  • Preferred – Participate in department accreditation processes and standards, particularly with ACBSP accreditation, demonstrating an ability to uphold and enhance academic quality.
  • Preferred – Participate in leading academic and administrative initiatives that require navigating institutional structures, policies, and procedures within a university setting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Management, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of teaching excellence at the baccalaureate level, covering a broad range of foundational and upper-level business courses.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in business and demonstrated understanding of contemporary business practices and trends.
  • Ability to teach on campus throughout the academic year.
  • Experience delivering high-quality curriculum to traditional and non-traditional learners in classroom settings, hybrid, and online (synchronous and asynchronous) delivery modes.
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, ensuring that all students have equitable access to resources, support, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to understanding and addressing students’ diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Track record of being highly adaptable and willing to take on diverse responsibilities in dynamic, complex environments, effectively managing challenges and driving initiatives to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including decision-making, problem-solving, and effective communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Management, Leadership, or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience working in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience overseeing accreditation processes and standards, particularly with ACBSP accreditation.
  • Experience leading academic and administrative initiatives that require navigating institutional structures, policies, and procedures within a university setting.
  • Industry network and connections.
