Assistant Professor (NTT), Center for Artificial Intelligence and Drug Discovery - CWRU School of Medicine

We seek a new faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Drug Discovery in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. This position is a combined research and teaching position.

Responsibilities and duties: Most of the time commitment will be in research, with up to 25% time teaching and advising. Research will utilize “big data”, including specifically electronic health records, for health outcomes research. Current research support is from grants expecting work on dementia and substance abuse, but candidate may develop their own portfolio of research and apply for funding. The candidate is expected to assist students in the Center in research utilizing the TriNetX or Cosmos databases. Responsibilities for an affiliated Master of Public Health program will include developing/teaching a 3-credit public health course, mentoring and advising MD/MPH students, and supporting student research. No clinical time is provided.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: MD and MPH degrees, with at least 5 years of experience in public health practice and research either in a public health department or in the Centers for Disease Control. 

Academic experiences and interests in culturally diverse groups is highly desirable. 5 years experience in the statistics and epidemiology is strongly preferred. Peer-reviewed publications, at least some of them first-author, are required. Board certification in a medical specialty such as internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, preventive medicine, surgery, or other is strongly preferred, as is direct experience using electronic health records. Teaching experience with medical students is preferred. Research experience working with large data sets of patient electronic health records such as TriNetX, Cosmos, N3C, or comparable data sets and strong background/skills in statistics and informatics is strongly preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
