The EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership Program in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in the Graduate School at Creighton University, a private, Catholic Jesuit institution in Omaha Nebraska, invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning spring of 2022. This is a full time (12-month), non-tenure track, teaching and service focused position. The EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership Program is an online, practitioner-based doctoral degree for adult lifelong learners with enrollment of approximately 250 students from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds including, but not limited to: government, military, education, health care, non­profit leadership, and business.

The new faculty member will teach five 8-week online doctoral-level courses for the EdD program each year. This faculty member should be able to teach and serve as course director in at least three of the following leadership-related topics commensurate with their expertise: Social Science Research Design and Professional Inquiry; Leadership Theories Seminar; Applied Ethics; Social Justice and Leadership; Policy Analysis and Development; Organizational Theory and Behavior; Systems Thinking; Data Analysis and Use for Qualitative Methods/Quantitative Methods.

In addition, this faculty member will serve as academic adviser for doctoral students on a variety of academic issues, serve as a dissertation chair and committee member for EdD dissertations in practice, review candidacy/qualifying exams, review admissions applications, and collaborate with other faculty and staff on the planning and facilitation of student engagement activities.

As a core faculty member, participation in departmental meetings and facilitation of program-level strategic initiatives related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, student retention, and alumni affinity are expected. Therefore, the faculty member will be expected to live in the local Omaha, Nebraska area.

Qualifications:

A PhD or EdD or other terminal degree in a discipline appropriate for an interdisciplinary leadership program with a social science focus

The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of prior demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and evidence of successful mentorship of student research.

The ideal candidate will possess non-academic professional experience as a scholar-practitioner and 2 or more years of online teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to work collaboratively on a team in an interdisciplinary environment

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport with, and empathy and compassion for, a diversity of populations
