The Moores School of Music at the University of Houston is pleased to invite applications for a tenure track faculty Assistant Professor position in music education to begin Fall 2019.


We seek a collaborative colleague to teach undergraduate and graduate courses with a student-centered approach in band methods and pedagogy, teacher preparation, and research methods. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a well-articulated, active research agenda in an emerging discipline (e.g., urban education, progressive music ensembles, music technology, social justice). Preference would be given to scholars who specialize in quantitative and/or mixed methods research.

Qualifications include an earned doctorate in music education; a minimum of six years of successful K-12 instrumental music teaching; college teaching experience; and examples of scholarship, including publications and conference presentations. Additional responsibilities will involve advising music education students, serving on committees, participating in outreach in the Houston area, and supporting the mission and vision of the music education area and the Moores School of Music .
