Position Summary:

This is an Assistant Professor position in the UW-Madison Department of Materials Science and Engineering, specializing in metallurgy.

Principal Duties:

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks new faculty at the Assistant Professor level in the area of metallurgy. Areas of interest include but are not limited to alloy design incorporating experiments and data science; metals sustainability; mechanical behavior; synthesis and processing; and metals in extreme environments. Research complementing existing efforts across the College of Engineering in high temperature materials, corrosion, nuclear materials, and advanced manufacturing is of particular interest.
Successful candidates will teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise graduate student research; develop and direct a strong, funded research program; participate in departmental and university faculty governance; demonstrate dedication to diversity; and contribute to professional and public service.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD or equivalent degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least 2 years research experience.
