Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine Department of Radiology in Ohio is seeking a full-time academic interventional radiologist (IR). This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

 

The University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) and West Chester Hospital (WCH) are equipped with state-of-the-art IR suites and support PACS and voice recognition dictation. UCMC is a Level 1 Trauma center with an active organ transplant program. There is a dedicated IR Clinic with nursing support. The IR Section staffs an outpatient vein center and clinic. The practice has a robust, formal inpatient consultation service. The IR physicians have excellent collaborative relationships with referring services and staff several multidisciplinary conferences per week. The IR Section has 6 full-time faculty members as well as 3 advanced practice providers. Our IR Section has extensive expertise performing more than 8000 procedures annually. The IR faculty is diverse and collaborative with wide ranging areas of clinical focus and research. This position is 100% IR as part of our busy and thriving clinical practice performing a wide range of procedures including interventional oncology, uterine artery embolization, GI/GU intervention, TIPS, venous access, and CT/US guided biopsy, drainages and ablation treatments. The IR Section also has an active inpatient admitting service.

 

UC Radiology offers ACGME-accredited IR Fellowship and Independent IR Residency programs, which are approved for two positions each year in addition to rotating diagnostic radiology residents and the ESIR pathway


Essential Functions
  • Teaching and providing medical services in interventional radiology (IR).
  • Will teach UC medical students, as well as UCMC fellows and residents; teaching duties will include formal and informal lectures as well as evaluation of curriculum.
  • Clinical responsibilities will include interpreting imaging studies from interventional radiology (IR) procedures, as well as providing dictated reports of the same.
  • Will perform interventional radiology procedures on patients, which involves using imaging guidance to perform a wide range of minimally-invasive procedures, such as but not limited to angiography procedures, insertion and replacement of tunnel catheter/drainage catheter, biliary intervention, paracentesis and thoracentesis, vascular embolization.
  • Will share these skills during patient care activities, by preceptung medical students from University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine, residents from the Department of Radiology Residency program, and clinical fellows from the Interventional Radiology fellowship program.
  • Also required to attend and actively participate in Departmental and/or Divisional service meetings and conferences.

Minimum Requirements

All of the following are required prior to effective date of appointment:

  • a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
  • an Ohio Medical license
  • Completion of a 4-year (48 month) Radiology Residency
  • Board Eligibility in Radiology
  • Completion of a 1-year Interventional Radiology Fellowship
