The Department of Psychology at South Dakota State University is hiring for an Assistant Professor in our Master's of Science program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology to begin in August 2018. We invite qualified individuals to apply for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level. We are particularly interested in I/O candidates with a strong background in organizational psychology. Candidates are sought with a commitment to teaching and the ability to establish an active research program that involves students. We are especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. Responsibilities: Teaching/advising, research, and service make up the professional role. The planned teaching load is five courses per academic year, which includes four graduate and one undergraduate course. Teaching responsibilities include traditional Organizational Psychology areas (e.g., Organizational Development, Leadership and Motivation, and Teams), statistics/research methods courses, and other courses as needed. An active research program that involves students and will produce publications and regional/national presentations is expected. New faculty members are provided with basic research support including lab space and the opportunity to apply for startup funds. Graduate courses will be delivered face-to-face on the SDSU main campus in Brookings, SD. The yearly undergraduate course may be delivered either face-to-face or online. Limited department, college and/or university service is also expected.
The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in I/O Psychology at the time of appointment in August 2018. Applicants should have a strong background in Organizational Psychology evidenced through coursework and research expertise. In addition, advanced training in research methods and statistics is desired. The applicant should be able to sustain an active research agenda involving graduate students. A strong interest in teaching graduate and undergraduate students is also expected. It is also desired that applicants have grant-writing experience and experience in teaching online courses.
The candidate should articulate a commitment to principles of affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity. Effective oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal relations skills, and a commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching are required.
