Job Summary
The Department of Linguistics in the College of Arts Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY seeks to fill a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Sociolinguistics. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated research expertise in Sociolinguistics with an emphasis on African American Languages (AAL) and sociophonetics along with secondary expertise in variationist sociolinguistics, American Englishes, and field methods, and an ability to teach courses in a range of these areas. The expected teaching assignment for this position is two courses a semester (four courses each year). The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including introductory courses as well as courses in their areas of specialty. The Linguistics department has particular strengths in sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, and historical linguistics. We encourage candidates whose research and teaching interests can contribute to one or more of these areas. A Ph.D. in Linguistics or related field is required.
