Job Description

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MEIE) at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) is accepting applications for tenure track assistant professor in the area of automation and dynamics with a focus on control theory, stochastic control, multi-network multi-agent systems, control of hybrid systems, symbolic control, optimization, model reductions and abstraction of control systems.  Employment is expected to start in Spring 2022.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty are expected to perform research in their area of expertise, supervise graduate students’ theses and projects, and secure external funding to support their research endeavors and graduate students.

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses

  • All new hires will provide quality teaching and other services to the department as assigned by the department chair.

Education

  • Candidate must possess an earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering degree) from an accredited institution or university.

  • Candidate must have 18 graduate hours for every field in which you will teach.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Candidate must understand and be able to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of dynamics and control. 

  • Candidate must hold or obtain the required work authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis by the beginning of Spring 2022

  • Candidate must have clear and good communication skills in the English Language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in graduate and undergraduate t students.

  • Experience working with teams of students working on design projects.

  • Strong dynamics, controls, and robotics background so that you can teach a wide variety of courses.

  • Experience using and teaching Matlab, CAD/simulation software (AutoCad, SolidWorks)
