Position Summary
The Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology https://folklore.indiana.edu/ at Indiana University seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professorship in ethnomusicology to begin in Fall of 2022. We seek creative scholars who integrate ethnography and theoretical analysis, and who deepen our dialogue with other disciplines and debates. Topical and theoretical specializations are open, but priority will be given to candidates who complement and strengthen our existing curriculum and faculty resources. In addition to innovative research commensurate with a research institution, we expect the successful candidate to develop a teaching portfolio that includes introductory and higher-level undergraduate courses, methods courses, and core graduate seminars in ethnomusicology and in the candidate’s areas of interest. The teaching load for this position will be 4 courses per year (2 fall/2 spring). Basic Qualifications
Applicants must have completed the PhD in ethnomusicology (or a related field) by the date of appointment, and have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
