Scope of Job | We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as a Non-Tenure Assistant Professor of Instruction of Psychology beginning in the Fall 2024 academic year. The Department of Psychological Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a non-tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Instructor in the area of clinical psychology, experimental psychology, or behavior analysis. The area of research and/or applied specialization should be within applied behavioral analysis and/or experimental analysis of behavior. The department offers a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) concentration option, which is pending renewal for Verified Course Sequence (VCS) status. For candidates with experience in experimental analysis of behavior, the department currently houses a non-human animal laboratory with equipment (e.g., operant chambers, running wheels). Applicants will be assigned position of VCS program coordinator and will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels but the responsibilities of these two positions are primarily to the master’s program in which students are prepared for certification as Behavior Analysts. A doctorate in psychology or one of its constituent sub-disciplines along with credentials as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) are required. Minimum Qualifications | Assistant Professor: A PhD in clinical psychology, experimental psychology, or behavior analysis with active BCBA/BCBA-D certification. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in psychology from an accredited university by August 31, 2023. Applicants must present evidence of active research that includes publications in peer-reviewed journals and must present evidence of expertise in the discipline; and potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, potential to supervise and mentor clinical and research activities of students, potential to maintain active programmatic research, and potential to obtain external grant funding. |

Additional Information | UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. |
