Job Description:

The Department of Earth Sciences at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the application of geophysical methods to addressing critical societal concerns with a Fall 2024 starting date. We seek a scientist who applies non-invasive ground- or aerial-based geophysical techniques such as seismic surveying, potential field, ground penetrating radar, thermal, or other sensors to topics such as groundwater contamination and distribution, natural resources, energy and geothermal resources, near-surface stratigraphy, and detection of buried anthropogenic hazards, among others. The successful applicant would teach a field-based applied geophysics course, an introductory-level course, and another advanced course in their area of specialty. We seek an active scholar who can add to our current research in geophysics and interact with Binghamton's First-Year Research Immersion program stream in Environmental Visualization. The successful candidate will develop an active grant-funded research program and supervise graduate students at the Master's and Doctoral levels. A Ph.D. in geophysics, geology, earth science, or related field is required at the time of appointment; post-doctoral experience and teaching experience are preferred.

Requirements:
