The C.T. Bauer College of Business, together with the Tillman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston seek qualified applicants for an assistant professor position in the area of Healthcare for the Fall of 2024. This hiring is part of an ambitious plan for the university to grow along the emerging area of excellence in healthcare that supports the strategic vision of the University of Houston.  

Ideal candidates’ experience or research will relate to strategic areas of focus for the colleges of business and medicine and for the newly-founded Healthcare Business Institute (https://www.bauer.uh.edu/health/ ) at the University of Houston. Accordingly, we are seeking faculty in Healthcare with a special emphasis on research expertise in public health and aspects of Accessible Healthcare & Disease Control, which are of interest to the College of Medicine. We are also open to outstanding candidates with special emphasis on one or more of the following areas of research: Managing teams and team dynamics especially in healthcare organizations; collaboration and innovation in teams (again with a focus on healthcare organizations); organizational structure, organizational hierarchies and decision-making styles; models of devolving decision rights to specialists; leadership models and best practices in leading healthcare organizations. We encourage candidates with a proven track record in attracting research grants from independent grant endowing entities such as the NIH, NSF, The Sloan Foundation, CDC, and the MacArthur Foundation to apply for this position. These areas are of interest to the Bauer College of Business. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or A.B.D.) in business disciplines, or MD in medicine or a terminal degree related disciplines and exhibit promise for high-quality research and teaching in the broader area of healthcare.

Bauer College of Business is AACSB accredited with over 6,700 undergraduate and 1,100 graduate students pursuing BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in accountancy, finance, MIS, real estate, business analytics, human resources, energy leadership, marketing, sales leadership, entrepreneurship, and supply chain degrees; and Executive DBA and PhD. The PhD program has seen a substantial uplift in quality in recent years. Qualifications
