General Statement | The Department of Education at Montana State University-Bozeman (MSU) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Education with an emphasis on quantitative research methods. We seek a qualified individual whose substantive research and instructional interests focus on quantitative epistemologies in education research and/or practical applications of quantitative research methods in P-20 education settings, including applied quantitative research design, analysis, and dissemination. The incumbent will teach graduate-level quantitative research methods, chair and serve on graduate student committees, collaborate with colleagues on funded research projects, and participate in developing an appropriate quantitative methods course sequence for graduate students in a variety of degree programs. Desired methodological specialties include but are not limited to correlative/causal methods, survey methods, psychometrics, item response theory, and/or advanced statistical methods such as HLM and SEM, with an articulation of underlying epistemologies. Experience using Stata or other statistical software and potential for/experience in teaching using online and hybrid formats is also desired. The selected candidate will have a well-articulated faculty agenda that includes a commitment to scholarly productivity and seeking external funding, potential for/experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students with diverse backgrounds and a broad array of research interests, in addition to a commitment to the integration of research, teaching and service. The successful candidate will also contribute to the land-grant mission of the university with outreach/engagement to the citizens of Montana and beyond, and is responsible for providing service to the department, college, university, and professional communities.
