The Department of Physics at the University of Houston seeks to fill a tenure-track junior faculty position in experimental condensed matter/materials physics. Exceptional candidates from all areas of experimental condensed matter/materials physics are encouraged to apply, but those researching materials and devices that make use of subtle and complex facets of quantum mechanics are of particular interest.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program in experimental physics that will be synergistic with our current programs in superconductivity and materials physics. Candidates must have a strong record of scholarship and be able to establish and sustain a robust, externally funded research program. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to and potential for excellence in teaching a wide range of physics courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as in mentoring students in research. Effective communication skills are required. Startup funds necessary to build a successful program and a competitive salary will be provided.

Qualifications

: 

Ph.D. in Physics or related field of study with research experience in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics commensurate with the level of the position.
