SUMMARY:

The Assistant Professor of Epidemiology is responsible for teaching 12 hours (or equivalent) and conducting scholarly activity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach 12 hours (or equivalent) of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in health and human performance per semester, including but not limited to epidemiology and public health.
  • Maintain quality programming in terms of expectations for activity, quality instruction, and record keeping.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with entities related to the program.
  • Advise MPH students. 
  • Chair theses committees for graduate students and undergraduate students.
  • Engage in service within the public health community and serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees.
  • Engage in scholarly research.
  • Perform other duties as needed, related to the overall mission of the department, the college, and the university.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Earned doctorate in Epidemiology or Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology or a closely related field. ABD’s will be considered with firm completion date.
  • Expertise in Epidemiology/Biostatistics, including knowledge of statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to public health and high quality teaching and research.
  • Dedication to high standards and student success. 
  • Scholarly publication record or scholarly potential. 
  • Ability to multi-task, collaborate across disciplines, and work well as part of a team. Ability to collaborate across disciplines.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of CEPH Accreditation Process and ongoing accreditation requirements.
  • Record of research and publication at the national/international level and ability to pursue funded research.  
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary setting.  
  • Commitment to diversity and working in multicultural contexts. 
  • Related certification (CHES, MCHES or CPH).
