The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health (SPH) Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (EOHS) announces the search for a tenure-track faculty member at the assistant professor level. The candidate must have expertise in industrial hygiene and/or occupational safety. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests in the following areas: the evaluation and management of exposure control measures, ergonomics and/or interventions to improve workplace safety and health.

Individual faculty members in our Division have active research projects related to effectiveness of personal protective equipment, precarious work, agricultural safety, emergency preparedness, workplace psychosocial stressors, occupational surveillance, healthy housing, occupational medicine, mining health and safety, and triage and clinical management of occupational injuries. Within the EOHS Division, we have a variety of programs that focus on occupational health and safety.
- Great Lakes Center for Occupational Health and Safety is a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center that supports training, research, outreach and continuing education in a variety of occupational health disciplines.
- Center for Healthy Work is a NIOSH-funded Total Worker Health© center investigating interventions and initiatives to improve conditions for workers in precarious jobs.
- Occupational Health Service Institute supports clinical programs in occupational health.
- Illinois Occupational Surveillance Program engages in research and public health practice to identify and prevent occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Mining Education and Research Center provides clinical services, surveillance and research programs, and education about the health, safety & well-being of miners, nationally and internationally
- World Health Organization Collaborating Centre facilitates global occupational health research and service
The EOHS Division has a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and impactful portfolio of research and service that reflects our values of community engagement and health equity. Our researchers are currently funded by NIOSH, NIH, WHO, HUD, USDOL, USDoD, and various departments of public health and not-for-profit organizations. Many opportunities exist at UIC for research collaboration with faculty in the fields of occupational safety, occupational epidemiology/biostatistics, occupational medicine, community health, and health policy. The EOHS Division currently serves about 80 students in MPH, MS and PhD programs with eight tenure-system faculty, and twice that number of research and clinical faculty.
