The Department of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of English, specializing in U. S. Latinx Literature and Culture, beginning Fall 2022. In addition to demonstrated expertise in Latinx Literature and Culture, areas of focus might include Hemispheric Studies, Black Studies, Indigenous Studies, Film and Media Studies, Theater and Performance Studies, Environmental Studies, or Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Located in the heart of Chicago, the UIC English Department is home to a wide variety of student programs and award-winning faculty research and writing. We are the largest humanities major at UIC, and offer MA and Ph.D. programs in English Studies, Creative Writing, and English Education.  Final authorization of the position is subject to the availability of funding.
