Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati’s School of Communication, Film, and Media Studies is seeking an Assistant Educator Professor in Communication for our online degree program. The position is 100% FTE, non-tenure-track, and within the UC-AAUP bargaining unit with opportunities for promotion. This position is not remote. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate to the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. We are looking for an individual with previous experience in online education. Applicants will be expected to teach online courses in multiple areas that complement our existing curriculum. This may include, but is not limited to, Environmental Communication; Communicating about Health, Environment, and Science; Media and Technology; as well as other coursework related to communication theory, rhetorical theory, public relations, organizational communication, and interpersonal communication.

 

The School also offers traditional degree tracks in Communication, Public Relations, Film & Media Studies, and Digital Media; a graduate certificate in Film & Media Studies; an M.A. degree in Communication; and a forthcoming Ph.D. degree in Communication.


Essential Functions
  • Teach assigned online undergraduate-level courses and seminars (While the candidate may be given the opportunity to teach face-to-face courses occasionally, this position will primarily entail distance learning).
  • Develop online curriculum for the School.
  • Serve on School, college, and university committees.

Minimum Requirements
  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Communication or a related discipline by the start of their appointment.
  • Prior experience teaching online undergraduate courses is required.
  • The successful candidate must share the school’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusive excellence.
