Job Overview

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati invites applicants for an Educator- track (non-tenure track) position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a non-tenure track nine-month appointment with an initial contract for three years; reappointments based upon performance reviews.

 

The Department of Chemistry seeks individuals to join our team to engage students and maximize learning in our classrooms, with a focus on student success and retention in our introductory level undergraduate courses. The successful candidate will be expected to use research-based and active learning approaches and evaluate new models of instruction, as well as address the needs of a diverse student population, including differences in ethnicity, race, first-generation college status, accessibility, and academic preparation, through course materials and teaching strategies.


Essential Functions
  • Teach undergraduate introductory level chemistry courses in-person with an emphasis on the use of research-based active learning approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with instructors teaching parallel sections of a course.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants.
  • Participate in service activities, such as membership in university and department committees. 

Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of the appointment, a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field.
