Position Summary

The School of Education in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Education. The College seeks scholars with expertise in teacher education and one or more of the major content areas educators teach to 4-12th grade students (preferably English, Math, and/or Science). The applicant must also have expertise and interest in working with teacher education candidates, cooperating teachers, administrators, and other educators in teaching diverse populations in K-12 school contexts. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate education courses, in both face-to-face and online environments;
  • Observe and mentor candidates in educational settings;
  • Recruit and advise teacher education candidates;
  • Participate in graduate level research projects;
  • Conduct an active research/publication agenda;
  • Provide service to the university, community, and profession;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education and/or Experience

PhD or EdD in Education or a related area, with an academic background in one or more of the major content areas of education, PK-12 teaching experience, and documented record of scholarship with potential to develop a sustained record of scholarship.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

A history of developing and leading professional development activities for teachers. Experience working collaboratively with schools or community groups particularly in urban and ethnically diverse settings; developing/working with university and school partnerships; CAEP and SPA accreditation processes; and college teaching experience.
