Assistant Professor Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga ( UTC) invites applications from candidates using computational approaches to understand behavior, learning, and cognition in humans beginning August 1, 2024. We welcome candidates working in any area of psychology (including cognitive, social, affective, developmental, I-O, or clinical psychology, human factors, and cognitive or behavioral neuroscience) using computational or quantitative methods (including artificial intelligence, machine learning, modeling, robotics, or data science). Candidates who use a combination of computational and experimental approaches are also invited to apply. The standard teaching load for this position is a 3-3 with a one-course load reduction in each of the first two semesters to assist in establishing a program of research. The successful candidate will be provided an opportunity to teach a course in their area of specialization and assigned other courses in both the undergraduate and graduate curricula based on departmental needs. There are also many opportunities for interdisciplinary and community collaboration, including the UTC Sim Center Bioinformatics Collaborative, the City of Chattanooga’s Smart City initiative, which includes gig city high-speed internet (see below), and the Smart Factory Institute. The Department of Psychology at UTC is the largest single major in the College of Arts & Sciences, with 22 full-time faculty members and more than 850 undergraduate and 50 graduate students across our degree programs.
