Position Overview
The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Marquette University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Data Science/Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2024.
The Department seeks an individual with a doctorate by time of appointment
in statistics, mathematics, data science or a related field. Candidates with research in computational statistics, machine learning, applied probability, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, applied statistics, statistical and/or data-driven modeling and forecasting are preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants whose strong research record demonstrates potential for 1) establishing an externally funded research program, 2) contributing to the Ph.D. program in Computational Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, 3) collaborating on Data Science initiatives across campus.
Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach at the undergraduate and the graduate levels, and have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Faculty will be expected to contribute to revision and teaching of introductory statistics courses for majors across campus as well as actively participate and mentor graduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities
Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Develop an externally funded research program.
Contribute to the overall department and university mission with a focus on data science.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
ABD may be considered.
