Job Overview

The School of Education at the University of Cincinnati seeks an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction. This position requires teaching, research, and service in upper-elementary or middle childhood mathematics education, and in preparing teachers for diverse classrooms. The position will support UC School of Education diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice goals.  Candidates with experience and research in support of Latinx students and the Latinx community are strongly encouraged to apply. The position’s start date will be August 15, 2022.


Essential Functions
  • Teaching mathematics methods courses for prospective early and middle childhood teachers (grades 4 to 9).
  • Teaching graduate level mathematics education courses.
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to teaching in diverse classrooms.
  • Masters and doctoral student advising.
  • Engagement in scholarship and service focused on supporting Latinx students in educational settings.

Minimum Requirements

An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Math Education, or a related field; three years of experience or teaching license in elementary or middle mathematics education; at least one year of teaching experience in higher education; at least two examples of scholarly research or evidence of service activities supporting Latinx students in educational settings.


Additional Qualifications Considered

Preference will be given to applicants with at least three examples of scholarship, teaching, or service activities that represent a commitment to urban teaching and research interests in equitable math education, urban education, socially just education, critical pedagogy, Latinx education, or similar area. At least three years of experience working with prospective and/or practicing elementary school teachers and at least three years of 4-9 teaching experience in US public schools is highly desirable. Preference also will be given to candidates fluent in both English and Spanish. The University of Cincinnati values a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.
