Assistant Professor, Computer Science

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in a liberal arts context and a commitment to conducting collaborative student-faculty research. The hire will contribute to the Mathematics and Physical Sciences department and primarily teach undergraduate courses in computer science at the introductory and upper-division level, along with occasional mathematics and first-year seminar courses as is appropriate to the candidate’s training and interests. The hire will oversee Computer Science courses and curriculum, advise Computer Science and Mathematics majors, continue a program of scholarship, and mentor students in research or other independent work. The normal teaching load is three courses fall and spring semesters and an additional immersive course during a 3-week term in January.

A graduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is required. The rank of appointment is based on the candidate’s qualifications and a PhD completed by the expected hire date is required for a tenure-track appointment. Candidates with a PhD in Mathematics and Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field will be considered for tenure-track appointment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.
