SUMMARY :

The Department of Computer Science & Information Science at Texas A&M University-Commerce is actively seeking applicants for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the field of Computer Science. The location for this position is the RELLIS campus in Bryan, Texas. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Cybersecurity or Cyber-physical systems. The position encompasses teaching and research responsibilities across all areas of Computer Science and is scheduled to commence in August 2024, with an appointment duration of up to 9 months. The review process will commence on January 11, 2024.

Faculty members at Texas A & M University-Commerce are expected to collaborate effectively with colleagues and make substantial contributions to their discipline, the university, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

The teaching and research assignments for this position will encompass all areas within computer science. However, the primary focus will be on Cybersecurity and Cyber-physical systems. Faculty members are expected to excel in these domains and actively contribute to the advancement of knowledge and scholarship in these fields.

The standard teaching load for faculty is 4 courses per semester, with each section counting as a separate course. Over time, faculty members develop a portfolio of courses to teach, and their actual teaching load (when course preparation, multiple sections, course-related settings are considered) typically decreases over time as they specialize in their teaching areas. Faculty members are encouraged to engage in research, and active research engagement can lead to a reduction in teaching load.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : 

  • Education: The candidate must hold a Doctorate degree earned from a reputable institution, with a major field of study in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a professional team. A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and a dedication to maintaining high standards for student success. Communication Proficiency in both oral and written communication is essential.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :

  • Significant experience and expertise in Cybersecurity, or Cyber-physical systems.
  • Industry experience is highly valued and desired.
  • Previous experience in higher education teaching, including the development and instruction of online courses.
  • A track record of scholarship, including publications, presentations, and successful grant proposals.
  • Licenses/Professional Certifications related to Cybersecurity, or Cyber-physical systems.
  • Knowledge of ABET accreditation.

SALARY :

The base salary for this position will be no less than $80,000, but it may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications.
