Job Description:

SUNY College of Technology, Alfred State College, seeks qualified applicants for a ten-month, tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Computer/Electrical Engineering Technology program starting January 2024 for the 2023 - 2024 academic calendar year. This position focuses on teaching laboratory and project-based learning course work.  The department is interested in individuals who have a passion for relating engineering theory to practical applications to enable students to learn by doing. This position could primarily involve teaching potential courses in electronics fabrication, microcontrollers, microelectronics, IC technology, power systems, electronic communication, among other computer or electrical engineering technology related courses.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teaching computer or electrical engineering technology courses in both lectures and laboratory settings.
  • Responsible for every aspect of courses from laboratory set-up to grading and assessment.
  • Academically and professionally advise students.
  • Oversee senior projects.
  • Collaborate with the department on initiatives ranging from ETAC-ABET to program development and campus service.

Requirements:

Position Minimum Required Requirements

  • Master's degree in computer or electrical engineering technology, computer or electrical engineering, or closely related field
  • 3 years industrial experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Position Desired Requirements

  • 3 years industrial experience in microelectronics and IC technology using a cleanroom environment
  • Prior training or teaching experience
