Description
The Department of Communication in the College of Letters, Arts, and Science (LAS) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the assistant professor level to begin August 2022. Candidates will possess the ability to teach courses in Digital Filmmaking, screenwriting, and digital editing. While the Department and the University have a long tradition of outstanding teaching, the successful candidate will also be expected to produce professional caliber creative work that could be distributed on a regional or national level.
While the Department and the University have a long tradition of outstanding teaching, the successful candidate will also be expected to conduct and publish excellent research and scholarship or creative works in the communication discipline. Candidates should have an active publishing agenda and we especially encourage applicants with expertise in the work of underrepresented groups and communities. At the same time, candidates should be capable of teaching a range of generalist courses in media, production or film theories with a dedication to innovative teaching practices. An ideal candidate would also be interested in leadership roles within the Communication department.
The normal workload for this position is 40% teaching, 40% research and/or creative works and 20% service with potential for modification to reflect duties.
This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:
Salary Range: Generally starting at $63,000- $65,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

MFA or Ph.D, (ABD with evidence that completion of the dissertation is imminent will be considered). If terminal degree is not completed by effective date of contract, a one-year appointment at the rank of Instructor at a lower rate of pay will be offered.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
