Job Overview

The Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in clinical psychology who will contribute to the department’s research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service missions. Our department includes faculty with nationally funded research programs focused on minority populations, including Latino, LGBTQ, refugee populations, and those with cognitive dysfunction, so collaboration and support for diversity science is strong. We are seeking a colleague who will make contributions to coverage of diversity in the research and clinical training experiences we offer in our clinical psychology doctoral program.

 

Outside of the Psychology Department, this position affords opportunities to collaborate research efforts with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, UC College of Medicine, and local community agencies. Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, mentor undergraduate and doctoral student research, provide clinical supervision of doctoral students in our department’s Behavioral Health Center, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and make service contributions to the department, the university, and the profession. More specifically, candidates are expected to conduct research in areas  including, but not limited to, diversity, minority health/mental health, and/or African-American mental health. Research functions include maintaining an active research agenda and disseminating research results. Teaching subject matter will depend on the candidate’s interests and expertise; example courses could be Clinical Interventions with Diverse Populations, Introduction to Therapy, or Interventions with Children. Service includes contributing to departmental committees and engaging in professional service in the candidate’s field.


Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of appointment, all of the following:

  • An earned doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program
  • Completion of a one year APA-accredited clinical internship
  • License eligibility as a Psychologist in Ohio, as defined by  Ohio’s State Board of Psychology
  • Evidence of expertise in minority health, diversity science, African American health, or other mental health field through scholarly works (e.g., at least 3 publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at [inter]national conferences)
  • Some teaching experience (taught or assisted in teaching at least one course or delivered at least 3 lectures or presentations in academic or clinical settings)
