The Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position (full-time, 9-month, tenure-track) in Clinical Psychology starting August 2024.

The Department of Psychology is located within the College of Arts and Sciences. The College strives to foster and sustain an engaging culture of discovery, creativity, teaching, learning, and collaboration, enriched by a diversity of experiences and perspectives. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, scholarly/creative work, and/or service, to our efforts to meet the challenge of achieving inclusive excellence in our academic community. The College takes a cohort-based approach to faculty success, providing resources and support within the Dean’s Office and through collaboration with Arts and Sciences departments and schools, leadership teams in other colleges, and university-serving partners such as the Center for Faculty Excellence. The Department of Psychology at BGSU enjoys a nationally ranked doctoral program that offers specializations in clinical, industrial-organizational, developmental, and neural-cognitive sciences. The clinical area follows the scientist-practitioner model and has been continuously accredited by APA since 1970, receiving the highest level (then 7 years) of re-accreditation in 2016. Within the clinical area, areas of specialty include child/adolescent, behavioral medicine, community, and religion/spirituality. The new hire will join Clinical faculty members Eric Dubow, William O’Brien, Catherine Stein, Annette Mahoney, Carolyn Tompsett, Abby Braden, Daniel Maitland, and Dryw Dworsky (Director of Psychological Services Center). In all, the department includes 22 faculty members, approximately 95 graduate students, and over 600 undergraduate majors. The faculty are committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department fosters an inclusive environment through faculty participation in the NSF-funded ALLIES program, a student-led committee focused on issues related to underrepresented groups, and efforts to weave attention to cultural awareness throughout clinical training. - Maintain an active research program that results in publishing in peer-reviewed journals; seek external funding to support research  
- Teach undergraduate courses; teach graduate courses in clinical psychology; supervise Master’s and PhD student research and clinical training
- Provide service to the Department, College, University, and profession
- Research, teaching, and clinical supervision should focus on adult populations
- Obtain Psychologist license in Ohio within two years of the start date

- Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA-accredited clinical psychology program
- Demonstrated research productivity peer-reviewed journal articles; research presentation(s) at national/international conferences; book chapters in top-tier outlets)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Research or teaching focus on adult populations
Preferred Qualifications 
- Research and clinical interests with adult populations that align with our health psychology, clinical-community psychology or psychology of spirituality program areas

- Sample syllabus and assignments that illustrate inclusive pedagogy or student learning-focused course design. Syllabus and assignments may be from previous or proposed courses.
- Statement of research interests and plan for seeking external funding
Unofficial transcripts of highest degree earned are required for candidates invited for in-person interviews.  
Finalist will be required to submit official transcripts.
BGSU policy requires finalist to authorize and pass a background check prior to receiving an offer of employment.
